AUGUST 8, 2018 - LINCOLN, CA: Chico starter Blake Hannah was the talk of the game. Having been quoted in the local Chico Newspaper that the Heat would win the championship, he backed up his talk with an outstanding performance on the mound as the Heat defeated the Lincoln Potters 7-1. Hannah, a junior from UC-Davis, pitched 7.0 innings allowing only four hits while striking out seven.
After two scoreless innings, the Chico Heat scored five times on four hits in the third inning. Trenton Stowe doubled in the first two runs of the inning. Tim Frith followed with an RBI single and then Matt Kimura singled in two more runs. The Potters answered back in their half of the inning on a solo home run by JJ Santana but that is all the Potters would get.
In the seventh inning the Heat extended their lead to 6-1 as Frith drove in his second run of the night with a single scoring Wyatt Branch. Alex Crouch would add a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to finish off the scoring for the Heat in the game.
Frith, Kimura, Andrew Meggs and Trenton Stowe each had multiple hits while Joe Starick had two of the Potters four hits.
Cole Galvagno, Grant Dragmire and Brayden Bonner pitched the final two innings of the game with Chico without allowing a hit.
