NOVEMBER 8, 2017 - PORTLAND, OR: The Great West League released its 2018 schedule today, as presented by league commissioner Ken Wilson. Each of the league's six teams will play 60-games in a balanced schedule.
Moving into its third season, the GWL is one of the premier summer college wood-bat leagues in North America. The league showcases top college players from across North America in a professional-style atmosphere in California and Oregon.
The league season opens Tuesday, May 29th with the defending GWL Champion Medford Rogues at home against the Lincoln Potters. The league's two new clubs also open at home. The Klamath Falls Gems host the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox on May 29th, while the San Francisco Seals entertain the Chico Heat on May 30th. Chico, Lincoln and Yuba-Sutter all open at home on June 1st.
The Great West League All-Star Game will be played on Monday, July 23rd at a site to be announced.
The regular season concludes on Saturday, August 4th. The top four teams will advance to post-season play, with a pair of best-of-three playoff series beginning Monday, August 6th and ending Wednesday, August 8th. The best-of-three GWL Championship Series, between the two winning teams in the first round, opens Friday, August 10th and concludes Sunday, August 12th.
