GWL CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Cooper & Fallon

JULY 17, 2017 - PORTLAND, OR:  The Great West League Co-Players of the Week, presented by Madison Bat Company, is first baseman Koty Fallon of the Portland Pickles and Pitcher Josh Cooper of the Lincoln Potters. 

Cooper, a 5-10, 175 lefty from Roseville, California, authored a complete game against the Yuba City Bears on July 12.  He did not allow an earned run, while giving up just six hits, walking two and striking out ten.  For the Potters he is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and averging over a strikeout per inningThe 20-year-old will attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney this fall having previously played for Sierra College.  For the Wolverines, he was 4-4 with a 5.72 ERA in 23 games. 

For the week Fallon hit .529 (9-17) with a pair of home runs and 14 RBI.  He set a new league record on July 16 with 9 RBI against the Yuba City Bears.  Appearing in 5 games, he had three multipe hit games and three multi RBI games. The sophomore from Western Oregon hit .276 last year for the Wolves with 10 RBI where they were the 2017 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball Championship.  He was originally recruited to WOU as a pitcher but has been transitioned to an everyday player.  Last summer he played for the Colorado Cyclones in the Mile High Collegiate League, where he was an All-Star.   Koty is originally from Sunrise, Arizona he is majoring in business and hopes to become a fire fighter after graduating.
